A very nice experiment thanks to Pierre F1SHS. Pierre who is a member of Urgence Telecom (www.urgence-telecom.org) had access to a Nordnet satellite and decided to give us a demo. He set-up his gear with Thierry F4EGG and Leon F1HKN. Patrice F4GEN then set-up his DVAP on the resulting connection. We had a video camera with a life feed streaming onto the internet so that people could log-in and see us live. We proceeded to calling CQ via Dstar onto the Japanese JP1YJQ repeater. F4GEN, JH1DVF and JG1XMV had QSOs with our friend Kawabe-san (JF1TEU). JG1XMV also had a QSO with Morita-san JA1DDF. Both Morita-san and Kawabe-san were able to see us via the live video feed which made it all a bit fun. A great day out with friends and family trying out a new mode of communication. This was the first time for me to ever do a satellite QSO. It was also nice to manage to get the Sat+DVAP+DSTAR to work.. Thierry checked on his radio via access to his DSTAR node and the delay between the Sat QSO and the DV Node was about 2 seconds. Good fun all around.
